Custom Synthesis & Kilo Manufacturing

Custom Synthesis and Kilo Manufacturing

Custom Synthesis solutions at Colour Synthesis. We have an unrivalled depth and breadth of knowledge about colour chemistry that can only come from years of industry experience.

Our skilled chemists can help you to design coloured molecules for specific applications, and provide the most efficient and cost effect route to synthesis.

We can also manipulate different aspects of established molecular structures to alter the following.

  • Colour intensity
  • Shade (i.e. chromophore absorption and emission wavelengths)
  • Solubility (e.g. for use in Liquid Crystals, scCO2, aqueous conditions)
  • Colour fastness
  • Dichroism
  • Substrate affinity
Don’t Need Dye?

While colour is our specialty, our chemists have many years of experience outside the realms of coloured organic compounds. This has led to us being able to help customers to also develop and design non-coloured organic molecules such as liquid crystals and functionalizing non-coloured polymers. Process Development

  • The Customer defines the required project targets and specifications to be achieved.
  • Colour Synthesis can either take known synthetic pathways and optimise them to give more cost efficient production processes or,
  • Colour Synthesis will develop and optimise new chemistry, where required, based on literature precedent and Colour Synthesis in-house know-how.
  • Once lab scale development and optimisation is complete, Colour Synthesis can scale up to 5L, 20L, 50L, or 100L in-house as required for your stage of development.
  • Running processes in our pilot plant provides a wealth of information regarding process parameters and safety prior to scaling up to manufacture.
  • Pilot plant runs with complete batch sheet protocols and risk assessments.

Working with us
  • Full client confidentiality, from initial briefing to project completion
  • Direct Communication with the chemist assigned to the project, with regular review meetings to discuss progress and results to help continually improve on compound performance
  • Intellectual property (IP) can be assigned to the customer as part of the body of outcomes of our research programmes. This will be discussed and agreed prior to the commencement of the project.
  • Full data analysis and Interpretation on state-of-the-art analytical equipment. For more information  see Analytical Services
  • Colour Synthesis will provide information required to aid in any registrations of new molecules that the customer may require.
